Samsung YP-Z5 (4GB) Reviews

CNET Asia has posted a review for the upcoming Samsung YP-Z5 (4GB). They write ‘It’s a pretty player, though not terribly exciting by any long stretch in terms of features. But given that Samsung makes the same flash memory chips for the nano, it would be very cool if the final retail version could come with an 8GB capacity.’

Anything But iPod is one of the first to post quite a detail review for the Samsung YP-Z5. They write ‘Samsung’s no frills approach with Z5 may disappoint hardcore users who want features such as FM radio, voice recording, user-adjustable EQ, or on-the-go playlists; more critically the later two. But most importantly, I wish they would have used UMS and not MTP to transfer media for ease of use and cross platform compatibility. Aside from a handful of missing features, Samsung did a great job overall, especially on the user interface. The interface is very responsive, intuitive, and easy to use. Physically the player is a great size, feels solid, and fits nicely in your hand. The Z5 is simply a treat to use.’

PC Magazine recently posted a review for Samsung Yepp YP-Z5. They concluded - ‘Overall, the Z5 is a solid player, but it doesn’t impress me as much as I’d hoped. It has roughly the same feature set as the iPod nano, with a few nice if relatively inconsequential additions. Of course, there’s no cornucopia of accessories available for the Z5 like there is for the iPod nano. The main points in the Z5’s favor are PlaysForSure compatibility, the impressive 30-hour battery life, and (for a select few) Ogg support, but I wish it had some kind of lossless compression support, on-the-fly playlists, and perhaps an FM tuner as well.’
